Abstract

786,586. Electrically conducting transparent articles. LIBBEY-OWENS-FORD GLASS CO. July 18, 1955 [July 22, 1954], No. 20673/55. Class 39(3) One surface of a transparent body, e.g. a glass sheet, has an electrically conductive coating 11 which may be of transparent gold, bus-bars 12 at opposite edges of the coating being applied by silk screen printing and each bar having soldered to it at 15 a lead 13 which may have an insulating coating 14. After a dielectric strip 16 adhesive on both faces has been made to adhere to the bus-bar and to the lead 13, a further strip 17 adhesive on one side is placed over the lead 13 and strip 16 to hold and maintain a portion of the lead in contact with the strip 16 along the bar 12. The strip 17 may extend to the inner edge of the bus-bar and to the side edge of the glass sheet, or may be continued around to the face of the uncoated side of the sheet. The strip 16 need not carry any adhesive or need carry adhesive on one side only. An additional adhesive coating may be employed between each bus-bar and strip 16. If the insulation 14 on the lead extends up to the soldered joint the strip 16 may be dispensed with.
