Abstract
686,280. Electric heaters. LIBBEYOWENS-FORD GLASS CO. Jan. 1, 1951 [Dec. 31, 1949], No. 4/51. Class 39(iii) [Also in Group XXXVI] A glass sheet 10 to be made into a de-icing windscreen is softened in a furnace 17 by heaters 18, baffles 19 being provided to distribute the heat evenly. The windscreen heating element comprises a film of stannic oxide sprayed on the hot glass in the form of a solution of stannic chloride in isopropyl alcohol. Electrodes are secured thereto and are connected to the film by a metal overlay (see Group XXXVI). The film may be coated with transparent plastic and a second glass sheet placed thereon.
