Abstract

838,478. Two-part couplings; coupling members for joining separate conducting parts. SIERRACIN CORPORATION. July 14, 1958, No. 22523/58. Class 38 (1). In an optical article, such as a face shield or wind screen, of the type comprising a pair of transparent sheets 11, 12 and an interlayer 13 of transparent, resilient, plastic material, the inner side of sheet 12 having thereon a thin transparent coating 14 of conductive material, heating current is supplied to the coating through two sets of plug-and-socket contacts, one set only of which is shown. The socket contact comprises a pair of thin metal strips 21, 22 embedded in the interlayer 13 and soldered together at their inner ends and to a conductor connected to the coating 14. The strips receive between them a plug blade 23 connected to a lead 30 which blade may, after installation of the article, be soldered to the socket. In a modification, one of the socket strips has down-turned edges so that it embraces the plug blade and prevents lateral displacement thereof.
