Abstract

786,214. Door opening-appliances. ALBION MOTORS, Ltd., and KENNEDY, F. J. March 7, 1956 [March 9, 1955], No. 6903/55. Class 65(1) A door 6 is slidably suspended from a beam 1 having one end pivoted at 2 to a wall 4 and having the other end connected for vertical displacement to a valve controlled fluid pressure cylinder 10. A hand cord system connected to a rod 15 and actuating lever 14 operates a valve 12 for admitting compressed air to the cylinder 10 to raise the free end of the beam 1 so that the door slides to its open position. The valve actuating lever 14 holds the valve open by means of a latch 18 which is released by a projection 36 as the beam is raised to connect the cylinder to atmosphere. The escape of the compressed air is controlled so that there is a predetermined time delay before the end of the beam drops sufficiently for the door to automatically slide shut:
