908,178. Tipping dust-bins into refuse vehicles. ZOLLER [nee KEHL], E. K., and ZOLLER, H. March 24,1960 [March 24, 1959], No. 10462/60. Class 78 (4). A pneumatic device which automatically controls the lifting and tipping of dust-bins into a refuse vehicle after the sequence of events has been initiated by movement of a single control comprises a two-way valve 79, Fig. 1, supplied through a conduit 67 with compressed air, and connected to one of a pair of lifting cylinders 21 by a conduit 77, 78 and to a tipping cylinder 24 by a conduit 80. As described, compressed air is simultaneously supplied to the two-way valve 79 and check valve 69, the latter being opened when a hand lever 70 is depressed to allow air to pass through conduits 32, 76 to lift pistons 20 in cylinders 21. This raises a dust-bin supported by hooks 74 and resting against a plate 75. In rising one of the pistons 20 passes over a bore 35 in one of the cylinders, thus allowing compressed air to pass through conduits 77, 78 to the two-way valve 79. At this instant the bin has been raised to its highest point and is ready to be tipped. The compressed air moves a diaphragm 91, Fig. 3, in the valve 79 to the right thus moving inlet valve 92 so that air from the supply conduit 67 is supplied through conduits 80 to the cylinder 24. The tipping piston 25 is pushed down and the bin is tipped by an arm 5 when a rod 4 is rotated by gears 27 and piston-rod 26. When the tipping piston 25 moves over a bore 81 compressed air flows through a conduit 82 to a shut-off valve 83 which interrupts the supply of air through the conduit 32 to the lifting cylinders 21. To swing the bin back to the ground the lever 70 is moved to its initial position to connect the lifting cylinders 21 to the outlet of the check valve 69. Simultaneously the air flows from the valve 79 through conduits 78, 77 and cylinder 21 to the atmosphere. The diaphragm 91 now moves to the left, allowing the air to exhaust from the cylinder 24 through the conduit 80, past the piston 93 and through outlets 84. A conduit 84a may be provided between outlets 84 and a housing 29 having vents to the atmosphere. When the cylinder 24 is exhausted a cylinder 85 swings the bin into a vertical position whereupon the bin is returned to the ground by hooks 74.
