Abstract

786,133. Spring storage vehicle brakes. TETRA AKT.-GES. FUR HYDRAULISCHE BREMSEN UND APPARATE. Jan. 6, 1956 [Feb. 16, 1955], No. 578/56. Class 103 (1). A spring storage brake arrangement comprises a brake applying spring 1 which, in the brakes released condition, is kept compressed by hydraulic fluid in cylinder 9 pressurized by the piston 32 of a pump 4 operated by a pivoted hand lever 3. To apply the brake the lever 3 is drawn back thus compressing a counteraction spring 2 enclosed therein and retracting the piston 32. Liquid is thus released from cylinder 7 so that the spring 1 expands applying the brakes through rod 13, lever 14 and cable 15. Fig. 3 shows the device arranged on a tractortrailer unit with the hydraulic line 6 extending from the control unit 3, 4 mounted on the tractor to the cylinder 5 containing the force applying spring mounted on the trailer.
