890,652. Hydraulic brakes. CITROEN S.A., ANDRE. April 21, 1958 [Feb. 10, 1958], No. 12531/58. Class 103 (1). A control device, for vehicles, for distributing the braking pressure between the brakes of two axles in accordance with the proportion of the total load on one axle and in accordance with the brake pressure supplied to the other axle, comprises a distributer 13 having sliding valves 14, 15 controlling pressures to the rear and front brakes, respectively, and operated by pedal 18 through lever 17 and two rollers 11a sliding on lever 16 on valves 14, 15, the position of the rollers being adjusted through carrier 11 by a lever 6 pivoted at one end to the rod of a plunger unit 1, 1a, 1b, controlled, against spring 5, by pressure from chamber 4 of valve 15 equal to the front brake pressure, the lever 6 also being connected at 9c through linkage 9b, 9a, 9 to a piston of cylinder 7 connected to the hydraulic suspension system of the rear axle. As brake actuation becomes stronger, the pressure on plunger unit 1, 1a, 1b increases to move carrier 11 and rollers 11a to reduce the lever arm on the side of the front slide valve hence increasing the pressure supplied to the front brake at the expense of the rear brakes; the load on the rear brakes decreasing slightly on braking causing lever 6 to re-adjust the position of rollers 11a.
