Abstract

1420959 Spring-applied brakes GILLON BROS (LIMESPREADERS) 5 July 1973 [20 July 1972] 33896/72 Headings F2E and F2F In a tractor/trailer combination, a piston and cylinder device 17 mounted by a bracket 19 or anchorage member 19A to the trailer frame or chassis 12 has a piston 20A biased by a spring 22 to one end of the cylinder 18 to apply the trailer brakes 13 through cables or rods 14, 16, and equalizer 15, the brakes being released by hydraulic fluid pressure admitted via a connection 24 in an end member 23 to act in a working chamber 20C on a rubber cup 20B and the piston. The cable or rod 14 is connected to piston 20A via a piston-rod 20 supported in an end member 21, both end members 21, 23 being welded to the cylinder. The source of hydraulic pressure is an auxiliary outlet of the enginepowered hydraulic system of the tractor.
