Abstract
785,763. Cutting extruded lengths of clay. OGDEN, Ltd., H. Nov. 14, 1955 [Nov. 12, 1954], No. 32756/54. Class 87(2). The cutter is rotatable by a shaft a<SP>1</SP> and comprises two discs a on the shaft with a space between them spanned by spindles b which are peripherally spaced around them and a third disc-like ring c supported from the spindles b by cranks b<SP>1</SP>, the ring c thus being eccentric from the discs a. Knife blades d are mounted in slots in the spindles b and, by virtue of the crank connections b<SP>1</SP> with the eccentric ring c, the blades are maintained at all times in the vertical condition by the vertical cranks b<SP>1</SP> cooperating with the eccentric ring c. The shaft a<SP>1</SP> is driven at such a speed in relation to the speed of the conveyer e that, as a length of clay carried by the conveyer passes beneath the cutter, each blade d enters the clay vertically and travels with it to cut off lengths of clay with their extremities left flush.
