Abstract

785,300. Spring clips. PRIMROSE, N. A. LORD. May 25, 1955 [May 28, 1954], No. 15919/54. Class 44 [Also in Group XIV] In a spring clip device of the kind embodying a spring clip 3 having arms 6 extending from a base which is pivotally mounted on and secured to a supporting member 2 to enable an article 13 to be turned on said pivot 8, the clip is formed with a resilient base 4 which is flexed when said arms are spread and a co-operating friction member 7 is mounted on or formed in one with said supporting member for engagement by said base, said friction member having a contact surface greater in all directions than the transverse dimensions of the narrowest part of the base. As shown in Fig. 1, the supporting member is also a spring clip having a resilient base and arms and when the arms of the clips are spread apart the bases 4 arch and engage the member 7, the friction thus obtained holding the two clips against relative turning. The pivot 8 has a head and is held in place by a circlip so that separation of the bases by more than a limited amount is prevented. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 the spring clip 2 and member 7 are replaced by a bracket 15 which is shown as being mounted on a wall 16 by a screw 17. This construction enables an article carried by the clip 3 to be moved in three planes.
