Abstract

1,078,193. Clips. W. CLEARY Ltd. Aug. 28, 1964 [May 28, 1963], No. 21188/63. Heading E2B. A retaining clip comprises a one-piece member of synthetic plastics material with a substantially plane base area 1 and a pair of spaced retaining arms 3, 4 extending in a direction substantially normal to the plane of the base surface, each arm being provided with a lipped portion 4, 5, the lipped portions of the two arms extending towards each other to provide a narrowing of the gap between the arms at the end thereof remote from the base surface. The base surface may be coated with adhesive for securing it to the supporting surface or it may have small holes to permit securing by tacks or pins. More than one pair of arms may be provided as shown in Fig. 8. Small projections 7, 8 are provided on the centre line of the base to assist accurate positioning of the clip on the supporting surface. A number of ribs 10 are formed on the base portion between the arms 3, 4 to assist the frictional retention of a member between the arms. The clip may be formed with a press-on cover 11 which is particularly useful when a number of members are held between the arms or when the clip is in a position in which the arms are hanging downwards and thus the cover provides extra support. The cover is secured to the ends of the arms by ribs 12, 13 engaging a rim 14. The clip may be formed by a cut length of channel section synthetic plastics material, the flanges forming the arms 3, 4.
