Abstract
1371631 Clips UNITED CARR Ltd 7 Aug 1972 [5 Aug 1971 20 Dec 1971] 36908/71 and 59204/71 Heading E2B A resilient U-shaped clip for attachment to a pin 25 of diameter d comprises two arms 11, 12 and a web 13, apertures 20, 21 in the respective arms which, in plan view, and in the unstressed state of the clip, partially overlie one another to leave a gap a of dimension less than d, the shape, size and disposition of the arms and apertures being such that when the arms are resiliently moved so as to increase the gap a the pin may be passed through the gap and when the arms are released an edge of each aperture makes contact with the pin whilst that at the other end of the diameter remains clear of the pin, the contacting edges of the respective two apertures being at opposite ends of a diameter of the gap. As shown, the arms 11, 12 have outwardly splayed portions 18, 19 and apertures 20, 21 which are formed across the bend lines 14, 15. The web 13 has, to increase the resilience thereof, a cut-away portion 22, and the arm 12 includes an end 23 which extends across the open mouth of the clip, and, when the arms are moved towards each other to secure a panel 27 to a support 26, through a recess 24 in the arm 11. In modifications (a) the arm 32, Fig. 10, is formed with stiffening ribs and the arm 31 includes an elongated aperture 37 bounded on one side by a tongue 38 sheared from the arm and having an arcuate edge 39, and (b) the web portion 52, Fig. 12, is bowed through more than 180 degrees and a tongue 59 has a V-shaped edge 60 which co-operates with a V-shaped edge 57 of the aperture 56 in the arm 52.
