Abstract

1,123,232. Clamp fastenings. WILMOTBREEDEN Ltd. 1 Nov.. 1965 [5 Nov., 1964], No. 45091/64. Heading E2B. A spring clip has a base 5 with a pressed out tongue 10 by which it can be clipped to the edge of a panel 2, and two projecting limbs 6, 7 between which a member 3 to be mounted can be gripped the base having a hole 8 and one of the limbs 7 being formed for engagement by a screw 9 passing through that hole and the panel to flex that limb from a normal position in which the member can be inserted between the limbs to a gripping position in which the member is gripped between the limbs. In the construction shown the limb 7 is formed with a hole 15 to receive the screw 9 and on opposite sides of the hole are two arched prongs 16 pressed up on the side away from the base 5; the prongs engage the screw thread and tightening of the screw causes the prongs to increase their grip on the screw thread. The limb 7 is provided with an end portion of generally triangular shape, which has an apex 19, which when the screw is tightened engages the base so that the limb 7 turns about the apex 19 as a fulcrum, so that an unduly high gripping force cannot be applied to the member 3. The limb 6 has a pressed-up strengthening web 14 at the bend where it adjoins the base so that the limb is relatively inflexible. The tongue 10 is provided with a bent up prong 13 which engages the panel in the manner of a barb. As shown the member 3 is a split tube of a window regulator assembly.
