Abstract

1,221,806. Clips, clamp and stud fastenings. ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. 1 April, 1968 [31 March. 1967], No. 15568/68. Heading E2B. [Also in Division H2] A sheet-metal terminal clip for detachable connection to a bent conductor 24 comprises a plate-like body 34 having integral shank members 30, 32 formed with locking fingers 36, 44, and 38, (146, not shown) for locking the clip into a panel aperture. Tongues 40, 42 are formed at the ends of fingers 36, 38 and contact the lower side of the panel, tongues 48 (50) on fingers 44 (46) being spaced further from the body 34 for use with thicker panels. The central portion of body 34 is formed into a hook 68 which grips inserted conductor 24, arm 52 having been depressed .to allow insertion of the conductor through hole 62 in arm 52, under hook 68 and over depression 64 formed on the arm, connection then being made between conductor 24 and conductor 31 attached to shank 32 on release of arm 52, the bend in conductor 24 preventing the free end projecting beyond the opposite end of the clip. In a further embodiment the conductor (24a, Fig. 5, not shown) is attached to the body (34a) by means of a screw (72).
