Abstract

560,526. Band clips. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. Feb. 16, 1943, No. 2517. Convention date, June 27, 1942. [Class 44] A band clip has one end 40 formed with a slot 21 having a number of bent-up teeth 22, and the other end provided with one or more bent-up pawls 38. The clip is used for clamping two articles, such as a flexible tube surrounding a metal part, together. The end 30 slides under the left-hand portion, the pawls riding over the teeth. Fig. 5 shows the clip temporarily held together by the rear edges of the pawls bearing on the rear edge of the hole 25. Final tightening is obtained by a tool such as a pair of pliers, which force projecting parts 28, 15 towards each other, the rear ends of the pawls engaging the appropriate teeth. Depressions 11, 16 give stiffness to the metal band. To release the band, plier pressure is exerted on the parts 28, 15, and a tool such as a screw-driver used to lift the pawls. The band may be flat in cross-section. Fig. 18 shows the shape of the band when free so that in its final position; the band forms a true circle. The teeth are slightly twisted when formed so that finally they lie at right angles to the length of the band.
