Abstract

The locking band has a flexible central part (1) and thickened ends (2, 3) formed as jaws with a curved slot between them. The curved slots (4, 5) are staggered radially to permit mutual engagement of the jaws. One of the inner surfaces (8) of one slot and one of the inner surfaces (9) of the other slot each have teeth of ratchet form which engage one another. The thickness of jaw (11) reduces towards its free end. The jaws (6, 10) of equal stiffness. Opposite the jaws the ends (12, 13) are serrated. The band may be applied manually. Pliers may be used to increase the locking effort when applying the band.
