Abstract

572,121. Clamps. ARMSTRONG WHITWORTH AIRCRAFT, Ltd., SIR W. G., and FISHER, M. March 7, 1944, No. 4182. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXII] Plate clamps for use in riveting &c. are formed in three parts, a tension member 21 with a hook end 24 for engaging under the plates 13, an abutment member 10 engaging above the plates and a nut 18 screwing on the end 25 of the part 21 to tension it by abutting the part 10. The part 21 is cut away to semi-circular section at 22, this portion being further cut to form plates 23. The part 10 is formed from a length of spring wire with a coiled end 17 and a looped end 14 flattened at 15 and provided with a semicylindrical end 11 to enter the hole in the plates.
