[Classes 44 and 89 (i)] A device (described as formed from spring sheet metal) for providing a screw-receiving nut on a wooden or like support comprises a base plate having two pairs of attachment prongs 23 extending at rightangles therefrom, the ends of the prongs being internally bevelled as at 24 to cause the legs to spread laterally when driven into a support A, Fig. 6, the base being apertured at 21 to allow passage of a bolt or screw (not shown), passed, for example, through a registering aperture a in the support. A U-form clip 25 adapted to be slipped into position embracing the base plate has screwreceiving apertures which register with aperture 21, the upper limb having integral threadengaging inclined tongues 27. The base plate is off-set to displace the central portion 20 from the plane of the end-portions 22 so that, in situ, portion 20 is spaced from the surface of the support to provide room to accommodate the lower limb of the clip. In a simpler form the clip is omitted, integral tongues such as 27 being formed on the base plate, which is flat to lie against the support. A modification is described for securing together two parts at right-angles such as the lid and sides of a box or crate. In this form the plate is of L-form, one limb being provided with two pairs of prongs to be driven, for example, into the inner face of one side of the box and the other limb, standing out at right-angles to the face, has thread engaging tongues, or is perforated and receives a clip similar to that of Fig. 5. The tongues engage a screw passed through the lid.
