785,290. Granulating iron. AKT.-GES. DER VON MOOS'SCHEN EISENWERKE. July 20, 1953 [Dec. 6, 1952], No. 20137/53. Class 82(2) Iron granules are made by pouring molten metal on to the apex of a conical member so that the several streams of molten metal impinge upon a high pressure annular spray of water, the metal particles dropping into cooling water. An apparatus using a stationary conical member is disclosed and also a modification where the conical member is a rotatable thrower disc 38, the metal thrown off impinging on to the annular spray emitted by a spray assembly 39.
