Abstract
784,653. Proof-printing presses. HARDING, L. June 1, 1956 [July 5, 1955], No. 19360/55. Class 100(2) In a proofing press of the type wherein the impression cylinder rolls over the type bed the cylinder comprises a rubber surface 10 surrounding a metal tube 11 which is provided at each end with a bush 12 rotatably mounted on a shaft 13. The ends 14 of the shaft 13 are reduced in diameter and eccentric to the shaft itself, and have rollers or discs 15 rotatably mounted thereon which are adapted to run along bearers 22<SP> </SP>on the press frame. Each disc 15 drives the cylinder through the medium of a plate 17 provided with four open-ended slots therein which are engaged by pins 20, 21 extending respectively, from the bush 20 and the disc 15. One shaft end 14 extends through the mounting 23 and bar secured thereto a hand-wheel 25. On rotating the wheel 25, the periphery 10 of the impression cylinder can be raised or lowered relatively to the type bed due to the ends 14 being eccentric to the shaft 13.
