678,354. Roller-and-ring moulding presses. KOHLER, H. Feb., 13, 1951 [Feb. 20, 1950], No. 3524/51. Class 87(ii) Relates to roller-and-ring moulding presses and consists in coupling the drive of the press directly to the pressing disc or roller only, the press ring being arranged to be rotated by the action of the material being fed. The press ring 1 may run on two rollers 2, 3 with their axles mounted in brackets 4, 5, and the pressing disc 6 is then resiliently mounted by supporting its axle 7 in heads 8 on tie rods 9 (one of which appears in the end view, Fig. 2) which are acted on by a lever 12 under the control of springs 15. Conversely the pressing disc 6 may run in fixed bearings in the brackets 4, 5, Fig. 3, and the press ring 1 may run on rollers 2, 3 supported by a lever 22 which is rockable about a pivot 23. The bearings of the roller 2 are held directly by the lever 22 and the bearings for the roller 3 are rockable about a pivot 25 and supported from the lever through an abutment 24, the lever 22 being under the control of springs 28. In either arrangement the force of the springs can be adjusted by axial movement of their rods 14, 27; e.g. by a hydraulic jack.
