Abstract

784,369. Motor cycles. AUTO UNION GES. Oct. 27, 1955 [Oct. 27, 1954; Dec. 1, 1954], No. 30773/55. Classes 79(2) and 79(3) A motor-cycle comprises an engine mounted with its crank shaft 20 parallel to the plane of symmetry, a V-belt drive extending transversely to this plane and having a driving pulley 24 operatively associated with the crankshaft 20, and a driven pulley 27 operatively associated with a cardan shaft 31 coupled to the rear wheel 34. The V-belt drive comprises an infinitely variable gear. A blower 35 is provided for cooling the engine. The road wheel 34 and housing 40, for the cardan shaft 31, are journalled at 41, 42, for movement relative to the engine. In a modification (Fig. 1, not shown) the V-belt drive is disposed at the rear of the engine and the blower 35 is disposed at the front.
