783,674. Making composite sheet. SCHMIDT GES., K. Jan. 4, 1956 [Jan. 7, 1955], No. 338/56. Classes 83 (2) and 83 (4). Rolling.-In a method of plating a metal backing with aluminium alloys by rolling under heat and pressure the alloy sheet first has the heavy metals removed from its surface by etching or annealing and brushing and is then subjected to a light rolling pass to form a consolidated surface of aluminium. Aluminium alloy sheet containing lead and tin for bearing surfaces is etched with a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid and then subjected to a light rolling pass, after which it is bonded to a steel backing.
