Abstract
522,463. Obtaining coherent masses from powdered metals; porous metal bodies; alloys. DEUTSCHE GOLD - UND SILBER - SCHEI - DEANSTALT VORM. ROESSLER. June 6, 1939, No. 16627. Convention date, June 28, 1938. [Class 82 (i)] [Also in Group V] Sintered bodies for bearings, brushes &c. are made from powders of light metals, including magnesium and beryllium and particularly aluminium and its alloys, mixed with powders of solders containing, for example, lead. zinc, tin, cadmium, bismuth, and antimony, or fluxes, for example alkali or alkaline earth carbonates, boric acid, borates, and phosphates, or one or more of the constituents of such solders or fluxes, for example zinc and lithium carbonate, with or without graphite, the mixture being pressed and sintered preferably in a reducing atmosphere such as hydrogen: The metal or alloy powder may first be provided, for example electrolytically, with a coating of a metal such as copper, tin, zinc, or iron. An alloy consisting of 30 per cent. of lead, 30 per cent. of tin, 25 per cent. of zinc, and 15 per cent. of cadmium is referred to as suitable solder powder.
