Abstract

783,620. Two-part couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 10, 1955 [Nov. 10, 1954], No. 32564/54. Class 38 (1). A socket designed to accept two-pin plugs of different types, such as round - pin British and Continental types and American and New Zealand flat-pin types, comprises a body 1 in which are loosely mounted a pair of V-section contact members 3 with lateral terminal wings 5, and a leafspring 4 secured to the inner end of each member 3 and bent parallel to and inwardly against the inserted plug-pin so as to force it into the V, if round, or across the mouth, if flat, or edgewise between the flat base of the V and itself (Fig. 4, not shown). The pin-entry holes 7 are also shaped specially to take the range of pin-types.
