Abstract

689,866. Two-part couplings; holders for discharge tubes. CINCH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. March 13, 1951 [July 19, 1950], No. 6050/51. Class 38 (i). A socket connector comprises a unitary insulating body 14 carrying socket contacts 2 and an earthing contact 3, contacts 2 receiving pins 9 on a plug unit 8 inserted in the lower face of the body and also pins 5 on a plug, e.g. a valve 4, inserted in the upper face thereof. Contact 3 comprises opposed resilient arms 28 each having a portion 30 at one end together forming a socket for engaging a pin on the plug unit 8, the other ends of the arms being joined and carrying a resilient earthing terminal 32 projecting out through an aperture 15 in body 14 and engaging for example, a metal can 6 surrounding a valve. The contacts are inserted in openings in the lower face of the body contact 3 being secured in position by legs 35 on the arms 28 which have hooked portions 36 engaging over shoulders 27 in an aperture 26. Contacts 2 may be of the type described in Specification 689,867.
