782,698. Separating solid materials. TAYLOR FRITH & CO., Ltd., S., and CARROLL. E. R. Jan. 19. 1956 [Feb. 10, 1955], No 3968/55. Class 117 A mixture of limestone and clay is fed through an opening 22 at one end of a feed box, and falls towards the gap between rolls 11, 12 which are driven in the same direction at different speeds so that clay and the smaller stones are dragged through the gap. Helical ribs 18, 19 on the upper slower roll 11, and of such radial height as to almost close the gap during rotation, prevent blockage of the gap and also urge the larger stones axially of the rolls to a discharge shoot at the end of the feed box opposite the feed opening.
