Abstract
782,678. Ovens. MAIN, Ltd., R. & A. July 13, 1955 [May 20, 1954], No. 14879/54. Class 126 [Also in Group XII] An oven comprises a heat - insulated walled structure 32, 34, Fig. 1, enclosing gas - fired heating means. The latter comprises frame members 13, 14, 10, 11, 12, Fig. 2, the members 10, 12, each having nozzles 15 whilst the V-shaped member 11 has lugs 20 on its sides. Between members 10, 11 and 11, 12 are placed sheet-metal ducts 22, each duct communicating at its inlet end with a nozzle 15 and its outlet end being so supported on the member 11 between two lugs 20 that hot gas may freely pass therefrom. The frame members are enclosed at the bottom of a plate 47 and at the top by four plates 25 which form the oven floor. Gas supply tubes 48, 49, are fixed at each end of the members 13, 14, and individually supplied with gas the tubes 48 carrying vertically directed gas issuing nozzles 17 and upwardly and inwardly directed nozzles 19. Each tube 49 has horizontally disposed gas issuing nozzles 18 one for each nozzle 15. The two hot gas streams at each side of the oven pass into passages 30 each of which is formed between a baffle 31 and the adjacent oven wall. A flue outlet 35 has a thermostat element 36 located thereacross. In the burner control arrangement tubes 48, 49, Fig. 3, are connected by pipes 39, 40, respectively. The gas supply is fed through governor 41, thermostatically (43) controlled valve 42 and then through cock 45 to the pipe 40 and directly to the pipe 39. In a modified arrangement the cock 45 is in the line to the pipe 39. In a further modification the cock 45 is dispensed with and a valve 42 is placed in each of the lines to the pipes 39, 40. In this arrangement the thermostats are preferably arranged in the flue outlet and in or just below the plates 25 the former controlling the gas to the nozzles 17, 19, whilst the latter controls the nozzles 18. Each set of ducts 22 may extend across the greater part of the distance between nozzles 17, 18, 19, on the opposite sides of the oven in which case the ducts of the two sets arc alternatively arranged.
