[Also in Group XVIII] In the counterpressure filling head of the parent Specification, the vent tube 7 from the measuring container 5 surrounds the counterpressure tube 12 and carries on its upper end a sealing washer 10 forming the counterpressure valve in conjunction with annular ribs 22, 23 and parts 21 between them on the top of the counterpressure tube 12. Vent tube 7 is carried on a spider 6 within the measuring container. The volume of the container can be varied by raising or lowering therein a piston 34 carried by rods 37 fitted with a manually-operable adjusting ring 38. The space under piston 34 is connected to tube 7 by a flexible vent pipe 41. The lower end of the liquid tube 14 is closed by a pear valve 25 suspended by a rod 27 from a cap 30 supported by a spring 31 on the top of the tube 12. When the tube 12, 14 is raised, valve 25 is opened by engagement of cap 30 with a fixed stirrup 32. The snift chamber 53 can be constructed as described in the parent Specification. Modified forms of the inlet valve to container 5 and of the suspension of pear valve 25 are described. According to the Provisional Specification, the container is made in two halves, the lower being screw-threaded to receive different sizes of upper half.
