Abstract
719,349. Bottling &c. F.A.G.A. FABBRICHE ACQUE GASSATE AFFINI, and CASIGLIANI, N. Aug. 19, 1952, [Aug. 20, 1951.] No. 20829/52. Class 125 (2). In a counterpressure machine for filling containers with liquid and provided with a tank 21 for the liquid under pressure, the filling head comprises a fixed body 1 and a socket 7 which a container 22 engages and raises to elevate cylinders. 3, 4, 5 working in bores in the fixed body and having closed ends and lateral parts 17 opening into chambers 19, 26, 27 and so located as to carry out the following filling cycle. Parts 17 of cylinder 5 clear the bore in the fixed body first and counterpressure flows by pipe 24, chamber 27 and cylinder to the container. The ports of cylinders 3 and 4 are then opened and liquid flows from chamber 19 and filling pipe 8 to the container while displaced gas flows through passage 9, cylinder 4, chamber 26 and pipe 25 to the tank 21. When the bottle reaches the top of its stroke, a valve element 15 on the end of cylinder 5 closes pipe 24 so that filling will cease when 'the liquid reaches the level of passage 9. The socket 7 is raised against the action of springs 13 which automatically lower the socket to close the valves should a container break. Fluid tight packings are provided between the movable and fixed parts. In a practical embodiment, the cylinders 3, 4 and 5 are disposed 120 degrees apart about the vertical axis of the filling head.
