[Class 69 (ii)] In a device for hydraulically controlling the reciprocating movements of the supports for receptacles in machines for washing, filling, stoppering, capsuling, labelling, &c. bottles, cans, tins, &c., in which device the reciprocating movements are produced by hydraulic pistons, the reciprocations of which are produced by a pressure liquid distributer, the reciprocating movements of the supports for the receptacles present and hold the necks of the receptacles against operating members whilst one or more operations are carried out on the receptacles and remove the receptacles from the members after carrying out the said operations, the evolutions of said hydraulic pistons in their cylinders being determined by members acting independently of one another at desired moments, and during predetermined periods of time, on the valves of a liquid distributer connected hydraulically to each of the cylinders of which the piston is to be actuated, the members acting on the valves of the said distributer being synchronized in a positive manner with the machine or the group of hydraulic machines. Fig. 4 is a transverse section of the distributer to which has been added a driving cylinder A to show the successive functions of the valves controlling the reciprocation of its piston. The inlet valves 11, 11a are actuated by cams 3 on a cam-shaft 1, which latter is geared to drive a cam-shaft 2 for the outlet valves 15, 15a. Valves 11 and 11a are lifted to permit liquid from the supply pump entering at 19 to flow into a duct 21 and through a pipe 29 to raise the piston in the cylinder A, liquid above the piston being exhausted through a pipe 33, duct 25 and outlet 20a to the reservoir. When the piston is to move downward again the valves 11, 11a are closed and valves 15, 15a opened permitting pressure liquid to flow from an inlet 19a into the duct 25 and pipe 33, the bottom of the cylinder being exhausted through the pipe 29, duct 21 and an outlet 20. If a slow motion is required, a valve 36 may be introduced in one of the pipes, e.g. in the pipe 29 as shown. The valve is spring-loaded and has a bore 37 which can be engaged by an adjustable needle 38. Liquid flowing up the pipe 29 therefore has to pass through the throttled bore. Liquid being exhausted from the bottom of the cylinder forces the valve 36 downwards off its seating and has ample passage into the pipe 29 and duct 21.
