Abstract
782,110. Mechanical switches, without quickaction. MORLE, C. W. (Grigsby Allison Co., Inc.). Jan. 5, 1954, No. 256/54. Class 38 (5). A switch comprises a resilient contact blade arranged to wipe over the surface of an insulating base as well as spaced apart fixed contacts on the base, and gaps are formed in the surface of the base between the contacts in order to avoid the formation of current leakage paths between the contacts due to loose conductive particles. In one form, Figs. 1-3, resilient contact blades 13, 18 are secured to a slide 14 and co-operate with fixed contacts 11, 12, 16, 17, which may be formed by electrodeposition on the surface of base 10. Openings through the base are formed at 21, 22, 23, 29 and cooperate on the opposite surface of the base with a resilient detent strip 25 carried by the slide 14. The switch may be of the rotary type with its fixed contacts so spaced as to be bridged (Figs. 7-9, not shown) or not bridged (Figs. 4-6, not shown) by the contact blade. Instead of electrodeposition, the fixed contacts may be formed by spraying through a stencil or by running molten metal into grooves in the base.
