Abstract
781,898. Two-stroke engine cylinders. PIATTI, V. March 29, 1956 [March 30, 1955], No. 9970/56. Class 7(2) Crankcase-compressed combustible mixture scavenging streams issuing from transfer passages 7 are guided by individual cylinder head deflectors 10 towards a sparking-plug (not shown) entered in a bore 15, the deflectors 10 being formed as projections from an annular cylinder-head surface facing the cylinder and forming with the piston head, apart from cutaways 12 mating with the deflectors 10, "squish" means for promoting turbulence in the combustion chamber 3. The cutaways 12 may have merely conical base surfaces, the deflectors 10 being correspondingly shaped. An exhaust port 9 is provided. The angle cc is at least 150 degrees. In a modification a single transfer passage and a diametrically opposed exhaust port are employed.
