Abstract

781,133. Two-part couplings combined with switches. ERICSSON TELEPHONES, Ltd. Oct. 3, 1955, No. 28036/55. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXXVII] Sparking between plug contacts 25 and outlet-socket contacts 14 is prevented by a switch in series with the contacts 14 and opened automatically to disconnect the supply from contacts 14 before contacts 14, 25 are separated and closed after the contacts are engaged. The switch comprises spring blades 6 carrying moving contacts 8 which co-operate with contacts 18 on contacts 14, the blades being connected by an insulating bridge 10 to which is secured an armature 9. The switch is operated by a magnet 30 on the plug which attracts armature 9 and closes the switch as the coupling parts are engaged and releases the armature when the parts are separated.
