A toy telephone comprises a switch desk and at least one toy telephone electrically connected therewith, the switch desk comprising a housing, a cover plate for an aperture in the housing and switch keys and switching components mounted on the cover plate. Telephones 1a to 1 d connect with sockets 16 in the switch desk or in the cover plate 10 which has switch keys 3 controlling an acoustical signal in the desk such as a buzzer 22 and/or a buzzer 15 or light bulb in the telephone. The cover plate also has a light bulb or bulbs 4 put into circuit by plugs 5. The plugs may also operate acoustical or light signals in the telephone. A battery or transformer in the desk may supply the electric current. A thermocontact may provide flashing light bulbs. The switch desk and telephones may have mock selector discs 8. Each telephone has a push button 12 for operating a bell. Each key may have a picture simulating movement. For engaging in telephone conversations each telephone may -have a battery 21 which operates an acoustical signal such as a buzzer 15 and a telephone 14 connected to a three way switch 120 which can also put in circuit another telephone in series. A microtelephone and transmitter 24 may be inserted in the circuit for the desk operator to listen to conversations between connected toy telephones.
