781,031. Chairs; furniture joints. GARDINI, A. P. L. July 28, 1955 [Aug. 2, 1954], No. 21793/55. Class 52(2) In tubular furniture the ends of tubes 1 are slit and coupled by a plate 2 inserted in the slits and secured by welding or by bolts or rivets, the tube ends being preferably flattened. The plate, when used for coupling the legs of a chair, can be provided with a downturned lug 2e in which the horizontal limb of a back-rest support 4 can rotate so that the back-rest can be swung downwards below the seat 3 to convert the chair to a stool, stops 9, engaging abutments 10, being' freed by inward displacement against a spring 8.
