Abstract
780,146. Supplying current to rotating conductors; cables. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 17, 1955 [Oct. 20, 1954], No. 29570/55. Classes 36 and 38 (1). Connections are made to testing equipment mounted on a rotating shaft 1 by means of brushes 7, 8 bearing on slip-rings in the form of strips of silver foil 3, 4 bonded to cellulose or other adhesive tape 2 wrapped round the shaft. Lateral projections 3A, 4A from the strips serve for making connection to the testing equipment, the unwanted projections being torn off. A layer of cellulose tape 6 insulates projections 3A from strip 4. The tape may be provided in the form of a roll wound up with a removable intervening insulating layer 9, Fig. 2, to prevent the sticky surface touching the foil strips. The Specification refers also to simple conductor tape and to more-than-two slip-rings.
