780,108. Separating solid materials. AMERICAN MACHINE & FOUNDRY CO Aug. 3, 1955 [Oct. 22, 1954], No. 22268/55. Class 117 [Aso in Group VI] Shredded tobacco is fed by a carding roll 10 to a winnowing wheel 18 which throws the tobacco forward, particles of acceptable size falling on to a conveyer band 22 to form a tobacco carpet whilst stem portions are projected into a collecting box 20 from which they are passed through a crushing mechanism 40 and then fed on to the tobacco carpet M.
