780,000. Photographic roll-film cameras. KAMERABAU-ANSTALT. June 3, 1955 [May 6, 1955], No. 5462/57. Divided out of 779,999. Class 98(1) A roll-film photographic camera has a shutter-winding mechanism and a filmfeed mechanism which may be selectively coupled by an operating member, and a locking device which prevents movement of the shutter-winding mechanism when the film-feed mechanism is uncoupled after an incomplete feed movement of the operating member. As shown, the winding knob 1 is fast with a rotatable body 1<SP>1</SP> rotatably mounted on a shaft 2. The knob 1 and the body 1<SP>1</SP> are movable axially between two positions defined by a spring pressed ball 10 which engages one of two grooves 11, 12. In the lower position shown, rotation of the knob 1 is transmitted to the shaft 2 by a pin 5 which engages a bore in disc 3 fast with the shaft 2, said pin 5 also engaging a bore in a gear 6 which actuates the film feed sprocket. The shaft 2 is connected to the shutter winding mechanism directly, and to a film takeup spool through a slipping clutch. In its other position, knob 1 is connected only to disc 3, so that rotation of knob 1 sets the shutter without winding the film.. Means similar to those described in Specification 779,999 may lock the film winding mechanism meanwhile. A U-shaped locking spring 15 fits in a slot in a cylindrical sleeve 19, and if knob 1 is in its correct position when it is moved upwardly, a pin 13 mounted in the body 1<SP>1</SP> engages a lug 16 on the spring 15 so that it is lifted out of engagement with ratchet teeth 18 on the body 1<SP>1</SP>. If, however, the knob 1 is raised in any other position, the pin 13 will not engage the lug 16, and the ratchet teeth 18 will be engaged by the leading edge of the spring 15, thereby preventing movement of the knob. When the knob 1 is moved into its lower position again, the spring 15 is pushed down by a shoulder 1<SP>11</SP> on the body 1<SP>1</SP>.
