[Also in Group XL (a)] An X-ray sensitive pick-up tube (see Group XL (a)) contains a photo-conductive layer of amorphous selenium, polythene, cadmium sulphide, some kinds of glass or fluorides, or alumina. The layer may be 2.5-25 microns thick and is not sensitive to visible light across its whole thickness. One side may be coated with a thin conductive light-transparent layer, for example stannic oxide at 0.1 micron.
