Abstract

1,270,464. Photoconductive device. RICOH K.K. 30 April, 1969 [1 May, 1968], No. 22003/69. Heading H1K. A photoconductive arrangement comprises an electrically insulating substrate having an intermediate layer of hexagonal crystalline selenium and a photoconductive layer of amorphous selenium on the intermediate layer. In the embodiment a layer of amorphous selenium is vapour deposited on a glass drum and then, annealed to convert it to crystalline selenium. An amorphous selenium layer is then vapour deposited on the coated drum. The dark resistance of the intermediate layer is low enough to conduct away the electrostatic charge when the arrangement is used in electrophotography.
