Abstract
778,628. Garment stands. WEINSTEIN, L., WEINSTEIN, D:, and CARLTON FURNITURE CO., Ltd. May 31, 1955 [May 31, 1954], No. 16078/54. Class 52 (5). A garment stand comprises a central supporting post 1 with a horizontal cross bar 6 at the ends of which are pivotally mounted arms 7 on which garments may be hung. Each arm 7 may be unitary or may comprise a pair of arms angularly adjustable relative to each other. Each arm 7 is secured by a knurl headed screw 8 in a slot in a spigot member 10 fitting into the hollow end of the crossbar 6, a thumbscrew 11 being provided to clamp the arm in an adjusted position. Notches 7a are provided in the normally uppermost edge of the bar while stops 7b are provided at the lower ends so that alternatively the bar may be rotated through 180 degrees to accommodate more garments. The arms may be fixed to the crossbar in which case the crossbar is rotatably fitted in a sleeve at the end of the post 1. An alternative support is shown in Fig. 3. More than one crossbar may be vertically adjustable on a common post.
