Abstract

787,191. Stands. SHORT BROS. & HARLAND, Ltd. Nov. 15, 1955 [March 2, 1955], No. 6152/55. Class 52(3) A stand for such appliances as a wringer, table top or the like, comprises a frame 1 to 4 having means 5, 6 for attaching the article to the stand, and supported by gate legs 8, 9. which may be pivoted from one side of the frame to the other so that the angle of the attachment means to the vertical is varied according to the side on which the frame is supported. The frame comprises uprights 3, 4 slightly inclined towards each other, joined by crosspieces 1, 2, which have curved upper extensions 3B, 4B with, at their ends, sleeves 5, 6 into which fit spigots attached to the applience 16 to be supported, thumbscrews 17 holding the appliance in place. The gate legs are pivoted to the crosspieces 1, 2 near the uprights 3, 4 and normally support the frame in a slightly inclined position. The resultant inclination of the pivotal axis of the legs causes the frame to assume a different angle to the vertical when the legs are swung through 200 degrees. as shown in Figs. 1 and 4, in which the sleeves 5 are vertical and at a small angle to the vertical respectively. The legs may be folded flat into the frame for storage.
