Abstract
777,514. Insulators. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 28, 1956 [April 12, 1955], No. 10525/55. Class 36. In a bushing insulator comprising two axiallyaligned hollow insulators 1, 2, an intermediate mounting member 3 and gaskets 9 forming sealed joints between the insulators and the member 3, held together by an axiallyapplied spring force, the facing surfaces between each insulator and the mounting member are inclined with respect both to the longitudinal axis and a plane perpendicular thereto. The surfaces are preferably inclined in a direction outwardly from the axis and away from a transverse plane intermediate the joints. Gaskets may also be provided between the metal end members 6, 7 and the outer ends of the insulators 1, 2, the facing surfaces at these joints also being inclined, preferably oppositely to those at the joint between the same insulator and the member 3. The lead-through conductor 11 may comprise a bolt screwed into the end member 7, a compression spring 13 being provided between the head 12 and end member 6.
