A resilient safety means for cushioning abnormal loads in heavy machinery comprises alternately disposed rigid elements 3 and resilient elements 4 arranged with their longitudinal axes inclined to the sides of a rigid boxlike body 1 having a cover 2 movable in the direction of the arrow 5. In operation, under load, the bars 3 to assume a greater inclination against the resistance of rubber cushions 4 which themselves bear on the walls of the body 1.
