In a foam generator, a forming nozzle 3 is arranged between a main nozzle 2 and a mixing tube 5 provided with air inlets 6. The nozzle 3 may be of convergent-divergent or convergent form. Foam solution may be supplied to the nozzle 2, or water may be supplied thereto and foam solution drawn in through a pipe arranged between the two nozzles.
