Class 20(2) In mine roof supports comprising curved or arched girders of channel section, two of which are overlapped and clamped together so as to allow yielding under roof pressure, the portions of the webs 1 of the girders between the flanges 3 and a plane u - v taper from the flanges towards the base 2 and the portions below this plane increase in thickness towards the base. The plane u - v corresponds to the maximum depth of engagement of two girders.
