Abstract
739,164. Arch supports for mine galleries. LINSINGEN, M. VON, [trading as BOCHUMER EISENHUTTE HEINTZMANN & CO.]. Nov. 11, 1952 [Nov. 17, 1951], No. 28375/52. Addition to 685,477. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXII] The clamping device for mine arch supports described in the parent Specification is modified in that the strop 6, Figs. 3, 4, is shaped from a piece of hoop iron, the ends of which are folded to form the thickened flanges 9. The folded flange portions may be flat or, as shown, arched transversely and edge welded to the flange portions below to provide spring action to the clamp. The clamp is coupled by a bevelled portion 8a to the end of the inner arch member 1 so as to move with it under roof pressure. The piece of hoop iron is given a preliminary bending in the cold state, and the bending is completed and bolt holes punched in the flanges in a die under hot forging.
