Class 20(ii) Lagging irons for mine roofs are connected by a link b inserted in the box section ends of the irons so as to be relatively angularly movable and they can be fixed in any angular position. The link is connected with one iron a by means of a bolt i and slot h, and the other end # is rounded, reduced in cross-section and may be connected to the other iron a<SP>1 </SP>by a bolt o which is sufficiently loose fitting to ensure the direct contact of link and iron and to relieve it of strain so that it may easily be removed. The coupling may be fixed by a wedge p driven between the lagging irons. The edge of one iron engaging the wedge may be curved to allow the irons to be arranged and fixed in different lateral angular positions. The wedge may have a wide and narrow part to increase the range of vertical angular adjustment.
