687,681. Pit props. ESSEN-BOTTROPER HANDELGES, [trading as SCHWARZ KOMMANDIT-GES., H.]. Dec. 15, 1950 [Dec. 22, 1949], No. 30624/50. Addition to 686,675. Class 20(ii) A telescopic pit prop comprises a clamping collar formed in two parts 3, 4 the cross-sectional area of each of which diminishes towards each end. The clamp grips the upper prop part 2 and is retained on the upper edge of the lower prop member by claws 7, 8 engaging grooves in the clamp. The clamp is tightened by bolts and nuts 13. In a modification one bolt is replaced by a bolt secured by a wedge cotter. Extension 15 on each clamp engages a recess in the other clamp to close the gap between the two parts of the clamp. In one modification the two clamp parts are hinged together.
